Root Canal Treatment

root-canal-img-1At Royal Dental Clinic we are great advocates of root canal treatments as it means that we can save teeth!

Saving your teeth where possible is our priority goal as it is the best option for you and for your dental health.

We regularly carry out root canal treatment for our patients and are very proud that so many patients have been personally referred onto us from other patients over the years for this treatment.

What is a Root Canal Treatment?

A Root Canal Treatment enables infected and painful teeth to be restored. It involves the treatment of the nerve of the tooth.

Root Canal treatment saves teeth that would otherwise need to be extracted.

Saving teeth from extraction wherever possible is a best practice option.

What does the treatment involve?

The process involves removing the damaged or dead nerve tissues from the root canals of the tooth that has become infected.

The treatment usually involves two stages and two dental visits with a dental surgeon.

At your first visit the dental surgeon will clear out the damaged or dead nerve tissues from the root canals of the tooth that is infected, clean and disinfect the canal and use antibacterial paste in the canal before putting a temporary filling in place.

This tooth is then left to heal for approx. two weeks.

The next stage of the treatment involves removing the temporary filling in order to remove the dressing and paste and then finishing the treatment by filling the canals.

The process is then completed with the placement of either a permanent filling or a crown.
